BOM Architecture is the winner of the competition for the construction of the 1st Museum of Architecture in Africa and in the Arab World in Tangier, Morocco. The proposal envisions a development which consists of three different sections: The Museum of Architecture ‘’Maison de l’architecture, 133 housing units, and retail shops and office spaces.

The site chosen for the project is very strategic as it is in a perpendicular axis to the medina of Tangier where The Museum of Architecture structures the project in such a way that the project will frame the view on the medina of Tangier and its bay.

The building is designed in such a way as to accommodate the surrounding landscape without creating a deep contrast. The open roof terrace allow visitors to stroll easily through the rooftop and connecting into the landscape through the wide steps which can also be used for outdoor activities and performances. The roof of the Museum of Architecture is envisioned as a public space enhanced by the simplicity of the volumes and materials used.

The facades of The Museum are of a brutal and modernist nature where small openings arranged in a random manner filter in light to the building. The housing units follow the modern and organic design of the museum which tries not to have any heavy contrast or any sudden change in the unique topography. They have been designed to be compatible with the landscape in which they stand hence considered as an urban belvedere which allows visitors to have stunning views of the scenery of the city of Tangier.

The Architect envisages that the roofs of these housing units will be inhabited through the building of penthouses with terraces and hanging gardens.
