The New Kintélé SportsComplex located in Kintélé; 20km from the capital city Brazzaville was built by a Chinese Company. The sports complex replaced former farmlands and covers over 80 hectares.

The project objectives were geared at  creating a sports centre that can be recognised globally for its world-class design, ecological features and high (accurate) standard sport facilities, providing a well-equipped, full-facility venues and logistic areas for the African Games, improving the overall impression and image of the city’s iconic buildings and perpetuating development and traditional culture.

 PTW Architects designed the golden stadium for the 2015 All-Africa Games. According to the architects, the shiny golden facade of the stadium was inspired by the “sun’s rays, as a symbolic interpretation of the longevity of the games and the excitement and colour that competition brings to the African countries participating in the event.”

The complex include a 60000 seater main stadium, a 10000 seater indoor event hall, a 2000 seater natatorium with supporting facilities like two training stadiums and media pavilions.

The 60000 seater stadium has three continuous tiers around the field and a running track. The stadium has 58,000 regular seats in national colors, 1,800 VIP-standard seats and 100 top-level for the presidential box.
The stadium has a synthetic athletics track.

The athlete and office infrastructure are housed in a massive concrete main structure, which is then topped by 8,000-ton steel roof. Covered with aluminum-magnesium “golden” sheets, reaching the peak at 50.7m.

The All-African Games are a significant sporting and cultural event for Africa, taking place once every four years and the multi-sport event is organised by the Supreme Council for Sport in Africa with the first games being held in 1965 in Brazzaville hence the complex needed to make a statement in celebrating the 50-year anniversary of the African Games in 2015.
