• 2016 Aga Khan Award for Architecture 13th Cycle Shortlist Announced

The 19 shortlisted projects for the 2016 Aga Khan Award for Architecture were announced today.  The projects, which were selected by the Master Jury from amongst 348 projects nominated for the 13th Award cycle, will be competing for US$ 1 million in prize money. The Aga Khan Award for Architecture selects projects that not only exhibit architectural excellence but also improve the quality of life. It has championed slum upgrading to high rise “green” buildings. The award recognizes not just architects, but also municipalities, builders, clients, engineers, and others. More than 110 projects have received the award since it was started nearly 40 years ago.

Shortlist: The Aga Khan Award for Architecture is given every three years to projects that set new standards of excellence in architecture, planning practices, historic preservation and landscape architecture. Through its efforts, the Award seeks to identify and encourage building concepts that successfully address the needs and aspirations of societies across the world, in which Muslims have a significant presence.
